oil change intervals

There are several factors that determine how many miles your oil is good for.and how often you should change it. Whether it's amsoil or not isn't one if them.

5k miles engine.
10k miles primary
20k miles transmission
Lines up with typical lubrication industry standards for the various machine elements. If you wanna change more often, fine. Kind of a waste of money and resources, though. Use good quality synthetic oils. Minimizes deposits.

I change all 3 holes every October/November before I put her away for winter storage. This way I’m ready to go in the spring and good for the season. As it’s been said numerous times before, it’s cheap insurance, buts that’s me.

I know they say 5000 miles but honestly the one time I left oil in the engine that long it was extremely black & won't do that again. Probably not that big a deal but I feel more comfortable with 3-4k miles. I don't like going 10k for the primary either. The transmission gear oil is probably fine for 20k but I don't let it go that long either.

I should have added, regardless if I don't ride 5,000 miles per year I change before winter and run the engine to drain all the contaminants, acids, water, etc. so they don't sit in the engine all winter - up here in central Minnesota. Ain't no riding up here in winter.

5,000 miles, or once per year…which ever occurs first.

Cheap depending on the mileage logged. If someone only needs one or two oil changes a year anyways, cheap. If someone's motorcycle is their main source of transportation, throwing perfectly good oil down the drain with 2000-3000 more miles left on it is actually very very expensive "insurance".

It's stated in the Owner Manual, and pretty much every engine manufacturer I've dealt with, included several I worked for, all say this. For the reason I stated.
