Default Another oil pressure question!!!

I have an 06 Ultra Classic. Stock twin cam 88 engine. Just had my 5000 mile service done and I never noticed this before. I'm going to call my dealer tomorrow about it but I wanted some input here until i call.

When the engine gets to operating temp the oil pressure drops to almost 0 when stopped and engine is idling. When running at highway speed ( 60-65 ) the oil pressure is almost 32 psi. any other twin cam 88's do this?

ALL OF THEM DO IT. PERFECTLY NORMAL. YOU WILL GET BETTER PRESSURE WITH AMSOIL SYNTHETIC OIL. I USE IT AND HAVE NOTICED THE DIFFERENCE.

I cannot vouch for Amsoil as I don't use the stuff......but indeed they all have low oil pressure at idle when they are at normal operating temperature. This includes Shovels, EVO's and the Twin Cams.....Harleys are just not know for having high oil pressure.

When I had an oil pressure problem due to a loose return hose clamp, the dealer explained that the HD oiling system is based onoil volume , not pressure. As the oil heats and thins, pressure falls noticibly at idle but (he claims) volume is sufficient to lubricate.

I have 05 TC Deluxe 98", 37's w/gear drive with worked heads. Stock oil pump no spring. Pressure is 12-15# at idle HOT . Highway at 70-75 runs 45+.
