M8 114 oil consumption norm
I understand there are previous discussions about this and yes I read that a quart is normal in 1500 miles however I have had many new engines from hi performance atv, motocross bikes and street bikes and none of them ever consumed oil. I have broken them all in similar way varying rpm and trying to get a significant load similar for ring seal similar to the Moto tune method.
I did first oil change on my fatboy 114 at 700 miles. It now has 2000 miles and the oil is consistently reading 3/4 or 75% up in the safe zone of where it says to add a quart, implying I am 1/4 of a quart oil consumption. It may even be more than that because when Harley filled it it was slightly above.
is anyone else experiencing this? I understand this is within “tolerance” but is this the general experience of everyone else with m8?

mine was a 114, burned a quart every 1500 or so miles, they replaced the upper, it still burned about a quart every 1500, they replaced the oil pump, it burned about a quart every 1500 miles, they replaced the upper again with a 117....it doesn't burn oil now....on a long road trip, I've had to add 1/2 quart one time only, other than that, haven't had to add any oil in 15k miles

There was a Harley technical bulletin on this. I read it with my own eyes at a dealer. Motor company says up to a quart ever 1500 miles is within spec.

Harley went back to 2 stroke motors for more torque?
Burning oil part of the "Revival" phase, going back to the AMF days? Buyers want the total nostalgia feeling. Next phase will be oil puddles on the ground.

By upper I mean pistons, cylinders, heads, rockers, etc.....sorry, i'm not very techy...basically the engine form the bottom of the V all the way to the top. We used the old horn.

Buy a carbureted bike My 2002 fatboy runs oil temp of 220 degrees on the highway at 70 miles an hour no matter what the outside temp is and burns no noticeable oil between oil changes of 5,000 miles. It also has no blow buy into the catch can. A fuel injected bike runs so hot that it is boiling the oil causing oil consumption
