Default Oil filter wrench size

Hiya. New member here just started restoring an 88 sportster 883. Doing the oil and filter change soon. What size swivel wrench should I go for? Is it the 60-70 mm range or 70-80mm range?
Thanks.

If there is a nut on the end of the oil filter it's not a stock filter. Probably a K&N, and it think the nut size is 17 mm, although a 3/4" socket may fit.
Not sure where you're getting 60mm or larger, but why not just measure it to be sure?

There is no nut. The replacement I bought has one. The bike is parked at another location and forgot to measure it before I left 😬

Then just get an oil filter wrench that holds the body of the filter. That way you can use it on any filter in the future.
Something like this, and you can get one at any auto parts store. https://www.harley-davidson.com/stor...B&gclsrc=aw.ds

If you are talking about a cap-type wrench, it's 76mm x 14 flute.

It depends on who made the filter, they are not all the same flute size. I know for sure OEM and Wix are not the same wrench size.

Ya, I should have clarified, OEM is 76x14.

Quick update. Tried the standard 76/14 tool and strap wrench. The tool kept slipping and there isn't enough room with the way the filter is positioned to grip with the strap tool and turn without hitting the chasis. Going to try the claw type tool next.
