Default Amsoil Question?

Just switched to amsoil and wanted to know if anyone suggests using the 20w50 in the primary and tranny as well? I never used Syn3 in tranny but I was wondering I anyone had good luck with the Amsoil in all three holes, or should I stick with Harley trans and primary oil. What benefits would I get if any by using Amsoil in trans and primary?

Well, IF you're serious and haven't read the numerous "arguments" about this one, Amsoil recommends you use their oil in all three holes.

Many are of the opinion that this isNOT the best option however and recommend a good gear oil in the tranny (not necessarily HD stuff) and 10/40 dino in the primary OR any number of other products like Redline's MTL. The primary doesn't require expensive oil since it is "splash lube" and cools the clutch plates.

personally, Redline HD Shockproof in the tranny, etc.

Many people are going to gear lube in the tranny. I use Amsoil Severe Gear
75-90. Made finding nuetral much easier on my 07.

I have ran it in all 3 holes. It worked fine. But I put 10W40 in the primary now. The Amsoil would leak from my drain plug a little. And the the trans I switched to Bell Ray gear oil.. And my bike shifts smoother then ever.

The BelRay is good gear oil used it in the past but on my 06 Amsoil made it shift a little smoother. Started with 75w90 then went to 75w140. Son has the 75w140 in his trans now and it is working good but he wants to try Redline Shockproof in it now. Has some ordered should be in this week.

20 w 50 is ok for all three holes but i prefer the severe gear in the trans.

I just changes my fluids yesterday, taking out Mobil 1 V-twin in the motor/primary and Royal Purple in the trans, switching to Amsoil in the motor/primary and Redline Shockproof Heavy in the trans. I noticed an immediate increase in oil pressure and shifting is like butter. The only drawback I had was when I poured the Redline. It looked likes something that should go over a bowl of ice cream, not in your transmission.

In case you're wondering why I switch from Mobil 1, it's because it's no longer available in my area. Neither Walmart or any of the auto parts chains sell it. Amsoil was available at one of the HD dealers here.

I am using it in all three and ride hard here in the mountains, bike runs and shifts perfectly.

Curious about switching to full synthetic. I've been running regular HD 20w-50 since I've had my bike in '02 (13100 miles). Is there a chance that changing over to synthetic in the engine that I'd get oil leaks?
