Engine Running 20 degrees cooler

RE: Engine Running 20 degrees cooler
I put Redline 20W-50 in mine today; didn't see a big change in temps as it already had Amsoil in it, but the engine is noticeably quieter with the Redline.
Put MTL in the primary- no big difference between it and the Amsoil that was in there.
Heavy Shockproof went into the tranny a couple of days ago replacing the Amsoil Severe Gear. The 5th gear whine was audible on mine, but never to the point of being objectionable. (I've had jap bikes that whined louder.) And every once in awhile if I lugged 6th down to about 50 I'd hear the 6th gear clatter a little.
The Shockproof minimized the whine in 5th (it's still there but not as loud) and no clatter in 6th regardless of speed.
Overall, I'd say that for my bike the change to Redline in all three holes yielded positive results...

RE: Engine Running 20 degrees cooler
Never used Amsoil, went with Syn3 at the 5K service, but I met a Amsoil distributor who gave me the 20W-50 and severe gear at his cost. No BS, he sat down and logged into the distributor web site and placed the order. So I figure for the price, and the fact that nobody really hates Amsoil (just the cult mentality) I'll give it a try. 10K servicing is around the corner, I'll post my thoughts after a trip up th Kentucky.

Those are good numbers, but you likely would do as well with any other high-quality synthetic. I'm not using Redline and see 180-200° in normal running, not higher than 210° in traffic after my last map tweak, and I've generally leaned my map out for optimum gas mileage. I do have an oil cooler, which helps.

iclick,
Now that I've run the redline for about 500 miles, I'm getting those exact tempswith minebut without an oil cooler. I agree that any high quality synthetic oilwould probably do the same with the temps. My delema was like everyone elses, do I use Amsoil, Mobile 1, or Redline. I went with redline only because my dealer recommended it and also stocks it.I don't want my results to sway anyone one way or the other.

RE: Engine Running 20 degrees cooler
I just purchased the Red Line oil products for my bike. Will be doing the 10K mile service this weekend. I'll be draining the Syn3 and replacing it with Red Line.
