oil change and mileage

If Harley's didn't wet sump how much used oil would be sitting in the engine all winter?
Since they are a "dry" sump shouldn't there be very little oil actually in the engine when you shut it off? Shouldn't almost all the oil be in the oil tank all winter?

Oil should indeed stay in the tank, even when un-ridden. I haven't had a 'wet sump' in over 40 years of Harley ownership, although I know it happens. Rats - what have I just said.....

Well I took everyone's advise and changed the oil in both bikes after i put about 15 miles in each to warm the oil up to drain it all out. I also put some Sta-Bil in the gas for a sure start in the spring. The wife washed and waxed them both and now they are ready to be covered up for the winter season. Those of you that can still ride be safe and enjoy the road and the Ride. Thanks,PaUltraBob

Yes!! mchertel I plan on taking her to our dealership when they have their 20% off Christmas Sale. It seem she always finds something she wants, though she said she doesn't need anything. she already wants me to plan a ride for 2018 (overnighter). Thanks, PaUltraBob
