Oil Mixing Question

Oil Mixing Question
Maybe a strange question, but here goes.......I changed the engine oil in my bike yesterday. I use Mobil 1 V-Twin. My bike takes 4 qts (actually 3 1/2). Anyway, I have 1/2 qt. of Mobil One left over, and I want to change my primary oil today. I use Formula + in the primary, which takes 38 ounces, or 1 qt., 6 ounces. My question is this...instead of buying a whole extra qt. of Formula + to get the extra 6 ounces, can I use the extra Mobil One oil I have left over, and mix it with the Formula + to top off the primary? Will it "mix" OK, or would that be a no-no?

6 or 7 bucks for 6 oz. of oil....nope, first off, it's $9 for a qt of Formula + at my dealer., btw......so, do I pay $9 for an entire qt. when i only need 6 oz. of oil, when I have 1/2 quart already sitting on the shelf?........sure.....why not?

You can mix different brands of oil and or synthetic with dino oil but NEVER mix the viscositys of motor oil.

you will be surprised at what the bottler does. after a production run, do they throw away left over vat?? hardly, they use it even if in another mix of compatible base. end result oil product is mostly about additives and not base stocks.
this issue i see in maintenance. i have a 1974ch that ran the whole gammit of oils, used what was handy so multi weights, straight weights and a whole gammit of weights from 30>80. i prefer straight weight in the 40>50 range but getting harder to find and a series 3 diesel oil if possible. the end result is 150k and virtually zero wear.
i deframed the engine for frame paint so bird in hand, decides to up the ponies. the pin wear was really not detectable since i did not have original fit but to the book, less than 1/2 ten thousandths. the jugs had .006 taper and a .010 over bore cleaned that up, i now have over 175k and ready to bust the 300k. since the ch had no filter, i over killed it with 2k oil changes and now 3k since i added a filter system.

Get another quart of Formula +, use whatever of it you need. Then for the next change you will only need to purchase on quart, and use the remainder of what's left to top off.
