South West HEAT, fluid recommendations.

South West HEAT, fluid recommendations.
Looked at the oil thread, and the tranny thread.
New 17 Road King and new motor. I had been in the northeast and used amsoil motor oil and redline in the tranny. Just HD in primary.
I do want the synthetic, but don't trust syn3 in all 3 holes.
Am planning to use the amsoil/redline again, but what do you guys in the crazy heat use?

I tried several different oils in the trans for high heat running and red line came out the winner.belray was a close second.the primary any quality oil will work,I use mobil 1-4t racing 10-40 in mine.pick a good oil and stick with it,don't keep switching oil in the primary.you may run into clutch issues.Alot of folks on this forum say formula + in the newer bike primary's works good.for the engine any quality 20-50 wt oil will work,In fact with the heat your having now you may want to try a 20-60 wt(redline has 20 -60 )or stick with amsoil, its a good oil.In 100 degree weather using syn3 in the trans and primary will give you problems for sure.

I do have a manual. Amazing wealth of information.
However, I've had enough harley's and read an awful lot of stories in forums such as this, about blind faith in the motor company. Lots of failures with their recommended fluids. That is why Amsoil, Mobil1, Redline etc, exist.
Sometimes the collective wisdom and experience in these forums are useful. My first season in regular 100+ heat so I was hoping for experienced opinions, not wise assery.

All we can do, is tell you what we use.
Where have you heard of "lots of failures with their recommended fluids?" (Greases maybe...)
You're right about "crazy heat" though.

Welcome to the forum highdesertyankee! Also welcome to Arizona!
This is my second Summer here in AZ, a relocate from Nebraska.
I am like you, always looking for the best for my bikes, like to try different
stuff just for the fun of the experiment. Never had any bad luck with that.
Last Summer here I ran Amsoil 60w in the motor really good stuff as far as I
can tell.
This Summer I'm running Lucas 20-50 syn with some of their oil stabilizer
in it. Another good product line as far as I can see.
I did notice the Amsoil ran a little higher oil pressure in the extreme heat
days. Gonna go back on my next oil change but (the stuff is so damned
expensive!!!)
About any good 20-50 is what I use in the primaries. had the best clutch
release with QuickSilver 20-50 syn. Smooth shifting.
I won't stray from Redline Heavy Shockproof in the Transmission, even
though each time I change it I flush it with a load of 20-50 syn for maybe
20 miles, then reload with the reddish pinkish stuff...
Lately here in Mesa, its just too hot to ride.....Yes I'm getting a little bit
depressed......
