Oil change mistake!

Oil change mistake!
Hello guys,
I have just done a poor job on changing oil on my Sportster XL883C (Please don't ask me why because I am new and couldn't wait to read all instructions).
1. I didn't pour oil into new oil filter.
2. I didn't remove the plug from the hose until seeing some oil (removing air bubbles.)
Therefore, when I pour 3qt into the oil tank, it was totally full . Do you think oil would pour into the oil filter if I open the oil cap? If it doesn't, what should I do? Please help me. Thanks

Start the bike. It'll take about 10 seconds for the filter to fill. Unless I'm missing something special about Sportster oil systems.

**** I don't pre fill my filters. The car yes, the horizotal bike one... Good luck. You did good. Mabye put in 2.5 qts next time just to make sure it doesn't overflow and then after its running top it off.

the older evo engines you had to fill the fillter some because of the low flow sump system.the way i understand it on those engines with an empty filter it could air lock and therefor have no oil circulation for way to long, not good.the newer engines have a higher flow oil systems so i guess it dose not matter.on my old bike i always filled the filter half way,or full to the point where when you tip it in place it dose not spill all over the place.i continue this practice on my newer bike even though i don't have to.but keep this in mind, untill the filter fills with oil there is no pressure in the system.no pressure means no flow to some parts of the engine.with high flow systems the fraction of time is minimal, so how much does it hurt? who knows.

I use 20w50 oil from Harley local store, and I don't touch the gas cap when I change the oil. Do I have to remove it when changing oil?
I have just checked the filter, and oil was filled in the new filter. I did remove the plug from the hose until seeing some oil. For now, everything seems to be perfect .

I have wondered about pouring some in filters, in general. But then I also think, they have been dry for many oil changes.
You could probably pour a little in, even though horizontal. I didn't last night, but I was drunk.
