Engine Crankcase Vent Issue
I started my 1992 FXSTS for the first time in 3 months today, I almost missed it at first , but oil was pouring out of my crankcase filter. The local shops were all closed. so nobody to ask what is the issue. anybody out there that can help. Thanks

The Softail (and some other models) has an oil tank that is higher than the crankcase.
In order to keep the oil from the tank from running down into the crankcase, there is a check valve in the oil pump.
Sometimes a bit of debris, or a poor fitting check ball will allow oil to drain past the valve and into the crankcase, this sometimes happens when the bike is inactive for a while.
When the engine is started, the scavenge side of the oil pump cannot return the oil fast enough, so some oil is expelled out the breather.
As long as it doesn`t do this all the time, it is nothing to worry about.
