M/C Oils
Cycle oils tend to differ from automobile oils in the anti-wear additives. API SM oils tend to be very low in sulphated ash, phosphorus and zinc (aka low SAPS).. Racing oils, motorcycle oils and aviation oils tend to be higher SAPS content, specifically ZDDP, which many associate with less wear.
Acceptable alternates are ACEA rated oils with an ACEA A1 or A3 approval.

Aviation engine oil does not contain any dispersants which will form ash, this includes ZDDP.
They don`t call it Ahsless Dispersant Oil for nothing...
Aviation motor oil is a whole different ballgame compared to automotive motor oils.

Thanks Bama. Was just about to start looking to stock up for a winter oil change.
Do you know if you can get more than 1 rebate? $15 for bike oil & $12 for car?

15w50 is ~$24 for FIVE quarts at Walmart = ~$4.80...half price!
~~~~~~
It's a car motor oil, so it can only go in the engine. You must run something else for the Transmission and Primary (I use Amsoil specifics).
The 15w or 20w doesn't matter much, that's just the cold flow spec.
What really matters is the w50 number...that is hot flow spec...and Harley wants 50 weight oil in that hot engine.
