Still using Primary+ in the 96".
It works and I live in a hot environment.
I use Shell 80 w gear oil in the '53 and HD tranny lube in the '88
way too many jugs of fluids in the garage- given all the vehicles we own

These gear boxes work ok on good SYN gear lubes but going to heavy can be an issue lube does not move around as it should and fails to dip down as it should.
Ones like Spectro 75-140 SYN have prove to work every well if you really want to use something other than plain out HD lube.
The ones filling them up with heavy lubes seem to be the ones always having problems.
Keep in mind engine oil and gear lubes are measured in different ways the gear lube works out to about the sane a 50W engine oil.

Used it for years and many miles. It was really made for BMW. They had a major issue some years back and Spectro came to their aid.
