Harley Oil or Amsoil

Harley Oil or Amsoil
Just looking for thoughts. I need to do an unscheduled oil change on my wife's sportster 1200. Long story but it ended with a crankshaft position sensor and oil that has a bit of a gas smell from flooding out horribly. I checked and the prices on Amsoil and Harley brand Synthetic 20w-50 are not really any different. Does anyone have a recommendation? I am leaning towards Harley but the closest dealer is an hour and a half away. Amsoil is 5 minutes away.
And living in North Dakota where there is a lot of days that my bike and hers get started at temperatures 40-50 degrees Farenheit. Should I be switching to 10w40 for this type of weather? Thanks for you opinions and thoughts

Go with Amsoil, its close to you and has a slight edge over the HD but either one will do the job. If riding in a constant 40 to 70 degrees it wouldnt hurt to use a 15/40 diesel oil or whatever your manual recommends, FYI Amsoil makes a 20/50 diesel oil which is c rated and is the rating Harley recommends for their late model bikes. 50+ riding I wouldnt think twice about using the 20/50.

Really guys? Amsoil 5 minutes away and you jokers want him to change oil brands? Heck I'd run the HD if it was 5 minutes away. BTW the 20w50 should be fine until the the temp drop below 40f

I run 20-50 in my airplane year round. Guess that's another story or argument.
I run Mobil 1 V-twin 20/50 in my bike year round. I can get it at any Wal-Mart.
Hell, that's what I run in my airplane.

I'm not a fan of either brand and won't use them. As to weights...20w50 should be fine.
