Messed up
I by mistake took out wrong plug when I went to change engine oil on 2013 heritage softail . I took the plug out of bottom of engine between floor boards. I got a couple of ounces of motor oil out of it before I realized it was wrong drain hole. It looks like it was right on the crankcase. Can any one tell what that plug is for and where do I put oil back in that came from there. Been worried that I may have screwed something up. Can some one answer this so I can rest easy. Thanks in advance

Sounds like you may have pulled the plug which folks often pull to check for sumping. It drains the oil from the crankcase. You shouldn't have gotten more than 3-4oz out. Put the plug back in and proceed with the normal oil change. Unless the plug that you are talking about was toward the rear in the middle and between the shocks, that would be the tranny drain plug.

yes only got a few ounces out of there. it wasn't the tranny plug that's for sure it was ahead of the proper oil drain plug and it only had an Allen head sitting flush with bottom of engine. I did finish off oil change with no problem although I put 3.5 quarts if oil in it and its right to the bottom of neck of tank filler when its cold. I take it that whatever drained from sump will make its way back there again
Thanks for the info, my first Harley and I want to take good care of her
