Default Thread Sealer on Oil Drain Plug?

I just changed the oil on my 08 Deluxe and this is the second oil change.
The first was done at the dealer for free as part of my 1000 mile service.
The drain plug had a stiff yellow cream colored sealant around the base of the plug and o ring.
Like a dip****, I didn't get a new o ring when I was at the shop but the existing one din't look too bad after I chipped away the sealer.
I changed the oil and filter and reinstalled the plug and there are no leaks.
Has any one seen this type of sealant? Is it a factory sealant?
It was brittle and easily chipped awy from the threads.
Thanks for any input.
Scott

Truthfully what should be done if you want to be proffesional about it is use anti seize on the threads, a light coating of oil on the new oring and install it. This keeps it from tearing on the tightening process. They usually tear on the removal, since all the oil has been squished off the sealing surface. This also has the effect of locking the drain plug. Same reason oil filters are hard to remove after being on for a while. The oring is the actual seal, and nothing else is really needed. Some people use the white locktite 565 paste with teflon in it. It gets gummy but never hard and brittle like you describe. You don't want hard and brittle as it will destroy the aluminum threads slowly and surely until one day you go to torque the plug and it strips out. By the way you can get a bag full of these orings at any auto supply for peanuts. Always toss the old one no matter how good it looks.

It is probably liquid teflon thread sealant.
I have used the sealant on all my vehicles for many years.

Works fine for me.

Thanks for the replies
Yes, this stuff was as hard as rock and I chipped most of it off before reinstalling the plug.
I am going to keep an eye on it.
I hate like hell to have to lose the Syn3 oil to change out the o-ring.

If it's not leaking now , don't worry about it until next time.

It is white loctite hydraulic thread sealer. You can get a tube at autozone for about $4. Mine had the same thing so I called the MoCo and asked what they used and they told me white loctite. I use a small wire brush to clean the threads on mine.
