How far is this from the D.C. area? My friends and I are looking to go on local day rides...

is that up near Hunter Mtn or Windham? We were paddling on Esopus last weekend and thought I saw a sign - really nice country there. When is/was this rally? Thanks

If you were on Esopus it isn't far. East Durham's between Woodstock and Albany, more or less. West of Saugerties I think. The rally's called Blackthorn Motorcycle Festival or Catskill Mountain Thunder or Thunder in the Catskills as the OP said. Woodstock H-D will be doing demo rides Sat. and Sun. until about 2 PM. I just talked to someone there who said they'll have one of those Dyna bobbers and a Street Rod there. Demos are "weather permitting," she said, and it's supposed to freakin' rain this weekend. Damn but I hate rain (even though I ride in it all the time).

Oh, the rally starts today Thurs. 9/15 and goes thru Sunday 9/18.

Thanks for directions - I see it on the map. Wound up doing "chores" on Saturday and did March of Dimes ride on Sunday over in White Plains, NY.

It was a GREAT time this year! Put it on your calendar for next year. Met a crew from the Albany area there and they had a tractor rim used as a fire pit! I gotta remember that for next time.......maybe I gotta hang it over the sissybar......

I checked out the website. Looks like alot of fun. I hope to be testing my new ride for next year.

I'm in Westchester County, NY. So it probably isn't too far for me.
