Never been there either, but have also heard nothing but good about the area & the scenery. From what I've gathered though, one important thing is WATCH FOR ANIMALS , especially early mornings & at night. ENJOY YOUR RIDE !!!!!!!!!

Run rt.11- 15 up to rt.6. Great ride up along river. We stayed at www.ox-yokeinn.com. Its past grand canyon. Get on there web site to plan. Also try www.paroute6.com for alotta help! You gotta take a couple days and do route 6 over to western part of state thru alleghenys forest. Start at ***'s h-d and go west. Mark

A ride from Gettysburg to the Grand Canyon. That will be a nice ride. I was in Gettysburg a few years ago on my Coast to Coast ride. Try US 50 or one of the other 2 lane highways. There is so much to see in this beautiful country.
It might be a bit HOT in the GC area in July. Lodging in the park is probably already booked up. Are you going to the North or South Rim?
Here is our ride report from Oregon to the Grand Canyon and beyond.

Wellsboro has clogged up quite a bit with truck traffic from gas wells in that area.

I live in Wellsboro. It's not as bad as the rumor-repeaters make it sound. The roads that are getting beat up, are the "secondary legislative secondary" roads with weight limits, where you wouldn't ride anyway. They're on the way to somebody's farm where there might be a pond or a well out back, in the field. East of Wellsboro in Bradford County is pretty busy. North, south & west, you'd never notice any difference. There's a little more traffic going through town & it might take an extra 30 seconds to turn left from a side street, but that's about it. Don't believe everything you hear. Great riding up here.

I'll be on this ride with Doug. Our group is REALLY looking forward to this trip. Doug has done a great job planning this trip out and as long as we have great weather (in August) this should be one to remember.
