Larry's Legacy Run NJ - 9/24/06
Larry's Legacy - First Annual Scholarship Fund Run
Sunday, September 24, 2006
Sign in between 9-11:00AM at the Hilton hotel parking lot @ The Rockaway Townsquare Mall in Rockaway NJ. The run starts there, goes a scenic run of the area and ends at the Picatinney Arsenal, Lake Denmark outdoor recreation facility.
Admission includes food & entertainment. Beverages will be available (beer). Advanced tickets are $20 (I'll post up on how to get the advanced tickets ASAP). The day of event, $25. I understand they will also have run t-shirts as well.
Some background info on the purpose of the run.
Larry is Larry Christie.
Larry had health issues and was wheelchair bound all his life. Larry and his wife took in a little girl from NJ's DYFS program until they (DYFS) could find a steady home for the child. He had requested no infants because of his physical limitations. When Larry received the child, he found out she had a baby sister. He felt bad and didn't want to break up sisters, so he took the infant in as well. The infant was sick and it was very hard on Larry due to his own condition. Eventually, the baby's illness caught up with Larry and he passed in October 2005.
