NYC Harley doesn't do rentals though, AFAIK... New Roc is about a 20-30 min. train ride, not too bad if you have all day, and there are some nice (rich people) places in Westchester to go ride around.

Jones Beach is a nice ride that I like to do, there is also the winery trail on the north shore of the island too that is nice.

 

OMS1276 gave you the best way to rent a HD in NYC but dont ride it back into the city. Head north for 60 miles and check out OCC then Rt. 17K to Rt. 17 West To Bethel NY it is the site of the 69 Woodstock concert and 40 year aniversery this year. (woodstock was not held in woodstock) check out www.bethelwoodscenter.org Woodstock is a cool town but cosmetic. Bethel is where it went down.

 

New Roc doesn't rent anymore and Lighthouse on Long Island Doesn't ether. Connecticut is the closest. You can go to harley's web site and see who rents.

Liberty is probably the best choice. Highroads in Edison/Woodbridge NJ and Hudson County in Jersey City are right there but I'm not sure if they rent. Ocean County HD on route 70 in NJ does.

DON'T ride in the city, except maybe Sunday morning. If you rent at Liberty, head straight west to New Hope, find you way up through NJ or Penn from there, all beautiful roads, ride Port Jervis into NY State. All far better than anywhere in the city and most of Long Island...

RIver Road up the Canal, 524, 519, etc. all great rides..

 

Kosco on 23 rents bikes now too

 

Bergen, Liberty, Kosco, Ocean and Stamford rent.

Liberty had this on its site though:

The only problem there is getting to Kosco from the city would be damn near impossible.

 

I live near Ocean dude, if you want to take a train down, more than happy to pick you up and drive you to Ocean..
