This years ride will begin at the newly dedicated Vermont Vietnam Veterans Memorial which is located in the new Rest Area on the North Lane of Interstate 89 approx. 5 miles north of Exit 1.
Bikes will begin staging at 9:30 A.M. in the upper and lower parking areas and a wreath laying will take place at 11:00 a.m. Bikes will depart for the Richmond Post Office parking lot on Bridge Street at 11:30a.m.
There will be coffee available.
Bikes will be leaving the Richmond Post Office for Enosburg at 1:45 p.m.
There will be ceremonies in the Park in Enosburg with a lunch to follow at the American Legion.
For those in the St. Albans area, a group of bikes will be leaving from the State Building parking lot on Houghton Street at 12:00 noon sharp for the ride to Richmond.

History/Background
Rolling Thunder was started in 1987 by two Vietnam Veterans who were also bikers. They were trying to come up with a way to raise public awareness of our still missing POW'S and MIA'S to a greater light. Being bikers they came up with a motorcycle rally. They wanted to get peoples attention especially government attention since they were the ones really avoiding the issue. So the "where" question was answered, Washington, DC. The "when" came easily-Memorial Day when people are thinking about all those who have served this country so selflessly and courageously. A meaningful name was needed-ROLLING THUNDER.
That's the sound one hears when thousands of Harley riders get together and it was one of the last main bombing campaigns of the Vietnam War that finally brought everyone to the peace table. "Rolling Thunder II" was the campaign that gave stratigic control of targets to the commanders in the field instead of the bureaucrats in the Capital building. The plan was to have bikers ride through downtown Washington, DC. past the White House and end up at the Vietnam Memorial Wall. The ride would help provide closure to family and friends and pay tribute to our fallen comrades and those who haven't come home YET. Some of the money raised has helped fund search teams to go back to Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and North Korea. Other portions of the funds have been used to help pay for family members to return to Southeast Asia in search of their loved ones while any remaining funds are used to help veterans in need.
