RE: Recommended rides from North Conway into Vermont
Follow Route 302 to Barre, VT then take Route 14 North to Newport, VT, then take 105 east to US Route 3 North Stratford, Nh. Then to Route 110 Groveton, NH, then to Route 16 south to Conway. Nice ride if you want a long one. Follow Route 302 to Burlington, VT then Route 7 to swanton, vt then across Route 105 to North Stratford, NH. Then follow Rout 3 south to Lancaster, NH to Gorham, NH then Follow Route 16 south back to Conway, NH. This ride should take most of the day.

I liek the meatloaf there. If you are lucky enough to go for breakfast, get the French Toast on their homeade bread.

I agree that you want to take Rte 112 (Kancamagus Highway) to Rte 302. The Kanc ends in Lincoln but 112 between Lincoln and Rte 302 is a nice ride.
If you take 302 to Barre, you could then take Rte 2 west to Rte 100 north. Rte 108 north intersects with Rte 100 after about 10 miles. I recommend you take a ride through Smugglers' Notch on Rte 108. Then you could take 15 east back to 100 north to Newport and follow scrappy883r's route.
Smugglers' Notch is worth the ride.
If your travel plans change and you're on Rte 100 where it intersects Rte 4, take Rte 4 about a mile or two east to the Long Trail Brewery on the right hand side of Rte 4. There's a nice little cafe there with good sndwhiches, etc. and a deck where you relax and eat.
