If You guys end up at the 'Cade don't go to the main expo, like rick said you have to pay $20 admittion. Instead travel on Rt. 9 (the main drag through the village) in either direction and out side the village theres leather outlets Helmets, mustang seats will have a vender about a mil south of the village its a good time. I've been going since i was in a stroller. this wll be my firstt year riding to Americade as my bike was down for the count last year and i decided not to push her to a local rally and fix her for Laconia the following week.

I aint Dissin , Americade,,, Everyone SHOULD GO,,,
but ,,your 3rd-5th time,, you'll feel as I do..
everything is getting the same way,, people just waitnin to grab the Dollars,, and ya gotta stand in line to give it to em!!! Plus, Cops gettin worse
If your lucky enuff to spend the week there, follow the days programs, attend all the diff stuff,,,
It would be a,, week of a life time,,,,
,,, bring more than you think for spendin $$$... eg. Fri afternoon, 2 ice creams, $12
the 1 crowded street will get to ya by day 2
enjoy,,,,,
I'll prob'y be there early in the week,,,, gotta do it!

I have to both agree & disagree with you Rick. I enjoy the get-to-gether of old friends & the discovery of new friends. We meet every year, do some riding, tell some war stories, lie through our teeth about how great we are doing, do some bar hopping. Most of us only bother with the venders if there is something specific we are looking for. I have gotten some great deals at the venders from time to time. Personally, twenty bucks a year to support the rally is a great deal to me. Some of the events like the rodeo & the boat cruises can be enjoyed every year. We know enough to normally go south to dine, but there are a few exceptions around the lake. The Garrison & East Cove are always a good meal. The PMB @ the Prospect Mtn. Diner was always great. Hopefully they have rebuilt since last years fire took it to the ground. We always take a ride over to Fort Ann to visit with Tommy McDermott & his crew @ McDermott's Harley Davidson. They usually have the grill going so its a good lunch time trip. If your a 1st timer then I recommend paying the big bucks & doing the full show, but for us repeaters, we know what interests us & where to go. Hell, by late afternoon I'm usually laying low at the Garrison. This is all the same stuff you do in Old Forge, except Americade is a larger scale. I sincerely hope "Thunder in Old Forge" becomes a regular event. I know it is good for the bars/rest. & hotel/motel businesses up there, & God knows your not packed with industry to support the area. I hope "Thunder" goes well & safe. I'll be thinking of you up there entertaining.

I'll be riding out, leaving Saturday morning, May 31and finishing the ride Sunday, June 1. This will be my first time at Americade. I waslooking at their website and it's forums it sounds like the cops have gotten pretty strict about pipes and stuff. The guys on those forums are mostly BMW and Wingers so I'm taken everything I read with a grain of salt, it seems that if you can't hear your cell phone over your exhaust than you are evil. Can you Harley riding locals give me the scoop on what really goes on with the police? I see ShovelHeadKid has straight pipes, so I can't see that my V&H BSS will cause a whole lot of rucus. Really looking forward to seeing you guys' part of the world, I hear it's really beautiful.

The cops aren't really that bad. Usually on Friday they set up on rt.9 checking helmets, eyewear, & loud pipes. If you aren't reving the bike they will usually let you pass. A rarely mentioned subject is eyewear is required in NY State even with a windshield. I lived there for 30 years before moving to MA & never had a problem. Where are you coming in from. I am planning on going up Friday the 30th. Its about a 3 hour trip. Monday I will be @ McDermotts Harley Davidson in Fort Ann, NY. Getting 15,000mi checkup, adding some power points, & having Tommy's guys give it the once over. He is the only dealer I trust. Been dealing with him since 68'.
You can usually find me in the late afternoon/early evening @ the Garrison on the end of Beach Road. If you see a fat guy with a Patriot Guard Riders patch on the back of his vest, thats me. Drop by or email me rp01069@yahoo.com. & I'll give you my Cell #. That's my backup address.

I'm coming from Milwaukee, yeah I ventured out of the Great Lakes section to drop in over here.
Saturday, I'm planning on making it at least to Erie, PA. That looks like the halfway point at about 8 hours.Ideally, I'd like to put in about 11 hours on Saturday to Buffalo, NYbut I'm just gonna get to Erieand see how the weather and butt are holding up and then decide whether to stay or press on. I'll shoot you a PM later in the week when I get some more solid plans and maybe I can buy you a beer once I get there.
