I was on Skyline Drive April 12. Rode from Thornton Gap north to Front Royal. I noticed a sign that the road was open but under construction mileposts 31-65, which would be Thornton Gap to Swift Run Gap. The Shenandoah NP web site today shows the road open and doesn't mention any construction. Last year I remember traveling on Skyline and riding on about 10 miles worth of construction, which meant lots of loose stones and dust. This shouldn't deter your trip, but you might want to consider detouring around that section. Routes 151 and 56 would be viable options.
