Ok, kinda depends on what sort of food you're looking for, but here's a couple in western Mass...........on rt 2 (The Mohawk Trail) in Shelburne, about 6 miles west of Greenfield is a place called "Mohawk Diner" it's on the left in the "Arrowhead Shops" and is excellent for breakfast and lunch.....open early, closes at 2 pm. Excellent food decent prices, friendly staff. Mike owns the place and he likes to visit with people.........usually very busy on the week ends though.

I like the West Taghkanic Diner just off the Taconic Parkway at Route 82 in Ancram NY. They have the coolest neon sign and the food is pretty good, too. http://www.taghkanicdiner.com/
Collin's Diner in Canaan CT is a good one, too, particularly if you really like stepping back in time. It feels like nothing has changed there since 1950. http://www.collinsdiner.com/

Be careful giving him a website if he wants that info he can find it himself.
We are all just trying to be helpful. Hope you find a place to eat and you may want to be a little nicer to them or they may spit in your food.
