Nature Sighting - Mass.
Really awesome to be out riding yesterday afternoon, about 2:30PM going north or Rt 119 in Ashby Mass. Just before entering New Hampshire there is a beautiful sportsman club property on both sides of the road it's a peaceful body of water.
I'm crusing by and look out to the eastern side and there are 2 majestic Moose, a full grown bull and cow. They were bathing about chest high in the water. We had no idea how huge they were till they came ambling out and disappeared into the woods.
I've seen them before but they are always a treat to see.
Just another great part of the whole motorcycle experience.
PS Watch out for wild turkey and deer. They are both stupid and will jump out in front of you.

Hi Steve
We have been thru there a BIZILLION times and never seen them.
Your saying just after the shooting range on the same side ?
BTW .... Wife and I had a nice ride yesterday (200 miles).
Went out 124 to Keene then across 9 Westto Vt to 30 North to
100 North to 11 East to 103 South back to Bellows Falls.
Crossed over to 12 South to 101 in Keene then back down
123 home. Great ride except one Fair going on just South of
Townsend,Vt which had a 1 mile backup so after 1/2 mile we
pulled over and ate the sandwich's & chips we brought along.
Next Saturday probably take a ride up to the Lake Sunapee area.

Hey Rob... yep, that stretcch is the place. I mentioned it to a local cop here today I bumped into at the market and he said he's seen them up there too. Says he keep a set of binoculars in the cruiser for sightings and also says he has seen lots of bear this year. The light winter last year made it a good season for wildlife.
I am jealous of our ride up into VT. I have been pretty much tied to home as my Dad hasn't been feeling well all weekend and we've been in and out of doctors offices and emergency rooms with him. If I take off for a ride, I'll be turning around and coming back.
I'll keep next weekend in mind. Love to join you guys for a leaf peeper.
Please say hello to Lyn for me too!!
PS had to get new rear tire on H-D, at 8500 miles. Time for it's 3rd oil and fluids changes soon. It runs better every day. Pretty broken in now.

That 119 is a great road this time of year. How is the foliage, almost peak or do I need to wait a week or two?I just picked up a new bike and need to put some miles on. I plan on testing the limits of the unlimited warranty so I need to ride.Gene

Hi Gene!!! What's this about a new bike?!!!!!
Let's see the pics?! What color, what model??!!
I can't believe you got a new one!!!
What a guy, first post and you respond to me! LOL! Small world. The foliage isn't peak yet, but another week and it will be. Maybe even more. I was up in the Keene area though this weekend and it is getting real pretty up there. This weekend ought to be nice!! Want to go break in your new bike?! Tell me more about it?

You sound like "the man" when it comes to knowing your way around NH! I'm from Fall River, MA about 40 mins outh of Boston. I go up there all the time for either skiing or camping in Conway at Cove Campground on Conway Lake. Just got my 1st HD this past July & would really like to do some nice ridin' up there next year. I usually go 95 to 16 to 302 hen I go into North Conway. Can you give me directions to a really nice bike run with the Kang included somewhere in it? Thanks!

RE: Nature Sighting - Mass.
Ian,
You do not need to travel that far for a GREAT ride ....
Personally I think the "Kanc" is way OVER-RATED !
We were just up there and by-passed it. IMHO .... Rt.302 & Rt. 2 is better !
There ain't a NH State route number I haven't been on and know like the back of
my hand that is West of Rt.93, North of the MA border and South of Rt.89.
The Wife and I log 8,000 miles a year on these roads. I also have been dirt
biking the same area since 1970 and for the past 10 years snowmobiling
in Northern, Southwestern and Central NH.
So yes I do not need no GPS cause mine is all logged in my brain. I can change
a ride on the FLY in seconds. Make it longer, shorter or even because of crappy
weather. The people that come ride have a great time and don't even bother
wondering where I will take them cus they know it will be a great ride.
I got friends that come from Boston and the Seacoast just to ride.
Also ride the Wachusett and Quabin area. We also have been exploring
into Southern VT. We are not into the bar scene so all I ask is come with
a full tank of gas and be ready to RIDE .....
