Alternate route help - Seacoast NH to Eastern CT
Hey folks -
Is there any way to get from the Seacoast of NH (Portsmouth) to Eastern CT (Danielson) in a reasonable amount of time, while avoiding 495 and 95? Would also like to avoid 190 and 84 if possible as well.
I'm kind of stuck to somewhat of a schedule for this trip (sister-in-law's birthday party) so I can't take all day getting to CT. That said, I detest 495 in the car, and don't have any desire to ride it on the bike - If I go that way it's all highway anyway, and not worth the trouble of taking 2 vehicles (wife and daughter will be in the cage).
Thanks...
Dan

OK, after some playing around on Google Maps, I think I have a reasonable option. Here's what I'm thinking:
Leave Rochester NH
125 South to 101 at Epping
101 west to 102 South at Raymond
102 South to Hudson
101A across Nashua to 130
130 south to the MA line
13 South to 2A in Fitchburg
31 South to 56 in Rutland
56 South to 12 in Oxford
395 south from Oxford to Danielson
This is about an hour longer (according to the goog) than the straight highway route by car, and cuts out a good chunk of the highways.
If anyone has any improvements on this, I'm all ears!
Thanks!
