CT vertical plate mount laws

I can't say for specifically CT, but when I was in Mass, it was a reason to pull me over and dig for other ****.
I got a few warnings, and 1 ticket....but about a dozen times got pulled over to "check me out" using the plate as an excuse.
I had built another bike and when getting state police inspection for a state issued VIN, the inspector told me that it was illegal, but he was going to let it pass because it gave them a reason to pull me over if they wanted

Been an LEO in Connecticut for 30 years. Yes, I am a member of the Sons of Arthritis ,MC. Statute 14-18a, improper display states ..... Clearly visible at the rear most part of vehicle.... And some other stuff. Vertical plate will give LEO probable cause to stop you and check you for anything else he/she can find.

Ugh with your help on the statute I found it.
(c) Official number plates when displayed upon motor vehicles shall be entirely unobscured and the numerals and letters thereon shall be plainly legible at all times. Such number plates shall be horizontal, and shall be fastened so as not to swing and, during the time when a motor vehicle is required to display lights, the rear number plate shall be so illuminated as to be legible at a distance of fifty feet. Nothing may be affixed to a motor vehicle or to the official number plates displayed on such vehicle that obscures or impairs the visibility of any information on such number plates.
