can anyone tell me about route 30 in the Adirondacks? i'm thnking of doing a weekend ride from central Jersey up the Thruway / Northway and then coming back down through the Adirondacks. Looks like RT 30 goes straight down the middle... Wondering if this is a good road...or any other suggestions you all might have

 

Its been a while since I've been on 30 but,it is generally a good road esp the Speculator\Indian Lake region very scenic..Make sure you check for roadwork\detours..BTW.your missing the Catskills by taking the NYS thruway which is also a beautiful area and if I remember correctly rt30 goes through a lot of the Catskills,up through the Mohawk valley\central Leatherstocking region and right through the Adks....good ridin'... hope this helps a little.ride safe

 

thanks for the help... i know the thru-way isn't the most scenic, just trying to get north as fast as possible. Was thinking up to Plattsburg, then turning back southwest into the Adirondacks..maybe down to Sarinac or Lake Placid to stay over. Then wake up on day 2 and ride the scenery through the Adcks and keep working my way south headed toward home...
