Default How to fight a parking ticket?

Last Friday, I decided to ride to work in downtown NYC, wall st area. Two garages turned me away, so I was screwed because all the street signs say "no parking 7am-7pm, dept of sanitation"

I parked between two cars; enough room for either of them to get out, but not enough to fit a car. As I walked up the block I saw a traffic cop ticketing a vehicle. I told him the situation and he said he never seen anyone ticket a bike.

I check the bike 4 hours later, and there's a ticket. How can I fight this? Do I plead for mercy since I was parked between two cars and it's unreasonable to ticket a bike? Do I play dumb and say I never got a ticket?

I am not sure about NYC, but if you don't pay a parking ticket in NJ they will issue a warrant for your arrest

What was the ticket for ,is all the info on the ticket right ( plate #, color, make) the traffic court is over by John St. If you go there they sometimes knock the amount down. Take a walk over behind World Financial Center there is alternate side parking you could find a legal spot there.

Almost impossible to fight those tickets. Your best bet is to walk over to traffic court like John said and try to plea a lesser deal. Most of the times they will cut you a break. The city is broke and they want your money.

Thanks all.

I think he got my registration expiration date wrong. He put 4/31, but that can't be right since I didn't buy the bike till last July. I'm not even sure how he came up with a date since the sticker doesn't have one.

He ran the plate number is how he got the registration date, it could well have been registered before you bought it. Being from Texas, I am in awe that you would ride a motorsickle in Gotham at all.
