OK, This is from reliable sources (NYS Police) Check points will be on the Exit 18 rest area Thursday & Friday & the Exit 21 OFF Ramp on Saturday. Troopers will be checking for loud pipes (that's me) & illegal helmets & going through entire bike.

Suggest getting off at exit 17 or taking alternate route all together.

would V&H ovals be considered loud pipes ? im driving down thurs afternoon.

 

any thing not stock is questionable. jump of 87 and take a nicer non patroled road down. u r driving past some of the best roads in the north east if you take 87

 

i took 9 all the way up from albany today and didnt see a single trooper. when you get into town if you park on Canada Street i suggest putting quaters in the meters it seemed like they were crackin down on that this year

 

Thanks for the head up going up early tomorrow morning, however we should be ok usally stay off 87 roads two nice upstate not to. Plus don't thing the new monster ovals would pass mustered with the troopers.

 

Going up back roads on Sat. They are just harassing bikers again

 

They're very serious about it. I got a $200 ticket last year for wearing a helmet that wasn't DOT. So did a friend of mine. Be safe.

 

These checkpoints are a bunch of horsecrap. It isn't right to single out the motorcycles. That is profiling. I am sure there are plenty of other motor vehicles that would fail a so called Trooper safety inspection. And to think, I pay taxes for this schitt... Regardless, I am not riding anywhere near the Northway. See ya there. Leaving in the AM.
