As some of you know, I am a LEO in Asbury Park,NJ. I am going to be proposing a Poker Run Fundraiser event to my PBA for the early fall and I was looking for ideas. I would also like to know how many of you and your friends may be interested in participating. Here is what I have so far and I am completely open to ideas and/or critiques...and of course ball busting if it happens. The registration fee will be $20/ rider with a $10/passenger fee which covers the burger/hotdog/soda (beer possible) at end. The poker run will begin at an undetermined location and ride throughout Monmouth County. There will obviously be 5 points/stops throughout the ride and the ride will end at a parking lot on the beachfront is Asbury Park. We have several riders who are interested in performing a small stunt show ( wheelies/stoppies stuff like that). I am going to try to get a few small vendors and things like that. I am also thinking about a bike show with a trophy for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd place bikes. Please, I know this has been a long post, but I am looking for feedback and/or interest. Joel, it's Steve, we rode togther with Glenn. We did a nice poker run that started in Keyport, went to the firehouse at 527 and 537, then hightstown, then the one on 522 in Old Bridge and of course one more that I can't remember and back. It seemed to be good spacing, letting people ride and there are nice roads you can suggest. Have you considered hitting up local PD's or FD's - Manalapan, Hightstown, etc. to let you use a part of the lot for card/water stops?

The thing that was really nice about the one we did was there was a band and vendors at the end and we got to hang.

I'm fairly good with a map and the roads around here if you want help mapping out a route..

Steve, thanks for the input. A buddy that I work with is related somehow to the owners of Freehold Honda, so he would like to integrate that place into the run as one of the stops. Once I get this ball rolling, maybe you and I can get together for a ride and map some good routes out that could include Freehold Honda and end us up in Asbury Park for the end site.
