Default XM Radio w New Antenna

There has been some discussion about the XM radio and reception for the Rushmore bikes. Like others, I had some concerns so I did not get it.

Recently, others mentioned that there was an updated XM antenna plus Harley had recommended a new location for the antenna. So, with that in mind, I decided to purchase the module.

I verified that the kit I purchased was the new version with the new antenna and had it installed today. When done, I turned the bike on - it recognized the radio and my reception (on channel 1) was as clear as a bell. I also looked at the reception graph and it was four bars.

I could only hear channel one because I will not activate the radio until some time in April - riding season here in Michigan.

So, if moving to XM, I might suggest that you make sure you get the updated antenna. If you already have one, I understand you can buy the new antenna separately

Do you have a picture of the new antenna? Wondering if I have new or old antenna. I have had XM for about 6 or 8 months and I mounted my antenna up next to the vent behind the wind shield and it works great I am 100% happy with the XM.

That is good to know. I removed my older HK module with lifetime subscription when i traded my old bike in thinking it would work on the Rushmore and it wont. I was looking to buy the Rushmore module this spring. Really sucks because i miss XM radio and have to buy something twice when i have one with lifetime listening.

Or a part number for the new antenna? I have two year old system and in tree lined roads or mountains mine cuts out. It's on the outside of the fairing as suggested before but still the same.

Here is the new antenna. The black plastic antenna is at least double the size of the old crappy antenna. Even though I have it mounted under the batwing in the recommended location, reception is greatly improved with the new antenna.

You can move the Lifetime subscription from original XM radio to another XM radio by paying a fee to Sirius XM of about $79.00 if I remember right...

When I busted their ***** about charging a fee to move a "Lifetime" subscription to a different radio, they lowered the fee to $50...I gave in and said Fine!

I moved from my 2010 LTD to my 2015 LTD (new XM module)...

YPD485 provided the correct part number. My antenna however says 1603 - but does look exactly like the one he has pictured.

The mounting instructions include a new clamp - and as I understand, it is now mounted on the opposite side as to where they use to mount it (now on the right side as you are facing the bike)

Surprised that I even got some reception when I pulled the bike into the garage.

Sure wish the lifetime subscription was still available.

You should be so lucky. I am kicking myself in the *** now for not buying a lifetime subscription. The fee (didn't know One existed) is a drop in the bucket compared to the monthly cost of the service. I have all access along with the traffic and weather. It helped me avoid getting caught in a storm several times this past summer. Wouldn't be without it!

Nice - but as others have mentioned the monthly fee is a bit steep, I have XM in my Jeep GC and love it but plan to drop it when the subscription expires - I think I'll just stick with my IPOD for now on my bike...
