IMO, if do chrome lowers and cans, you also need to chrome the wheels and calipers.

I like the look of the Rushmore's black and satin wheel. I'll be just be doing gloss black slider covers, and leave lower fork tubes alone next time I have the front end gone through.

FWIW, that was my plan last time I had the front gone through, but they didn't have the black cans in stock. I didn't want to wait for special order parts, so I didn't have them changed out. Next time I have the front serviced, I'll make sure to order them first.

Factory painted and matched from HD from Surdyke $100. Got it in one week...

Man that looks good in addition, your right passing lamp/turn signal bracket looks painted from the reflection. I gotta find out about doing that mod.

Did the front end and accented with the red calipers. Still on the fence about the red calipers, may do those in chrome at some point...I would recommend the chrome lowers, much less work than the bare metal and really dress the bike up.

With lowers...

Without lowers...

Before I did the calipers....

Your bike looks better with the stock calipers IMO. I do not know what the big deal that started 10 years ago or so about red calipers. Maybe all the cage guys want people to think they are Brembo's.

I have always believed that chrome was easier to clean than unfinished or painted. The 'blacked out' look was cool (depending on the color of the bike) for a while because it was different but now it seems to be more common than chrome. As far as salt air goes the only protection would be constant waxing but not sure if even that would even help.
