the valentine does detect laser. just don't know if it will work through the fairing?

hopefully I don't find out the hard way.

I disabled x & K band, not many cops using it in my area.

so far, seems to be working good, it also picks up radar from the rear.

 

He can pick up a AntiLaser Priority system for that.

 

I never thought about radar detector on a bike! Does anyone else have experience with this and has it come in handy? SO know I have a million questions. Will a detector work in the fairing? If so how to wire one on my bike... They are all Bluetooth now to our phones, etc... Tell us more!

 

I don't have a radar detector on the bike, but I do have a radar transmitter in the fairing. When I worked at the local PD we had a radar gun that was damaged in a crash. I took out the transmitter which measures about 2 inches on a side...built a regulated power supply for it (it requires 8 volts)...mounted it in the fairing and attached a button to the handle bars. I look for radar detectors on cars that pass me on the interstate and give 'em a zap. Fun to watch them slow down and start looking for the cop.

nice mount. the problem is that even if it does detect lasers, mine does....mounted in the truck, its almost an instant on you don't have the time to react and you are clocked. the beam on laser is very focused and not like a radar. i love mine. I've had it for a number of years. now, with the new blind spot sensors (radars) the older models give you a false alert thats kind of random, not steady like approaching radar. i know you can get them upgraded but i think it was still quite a bit.

 

I have a Valentine mounted just below my right hand mirror.
The reason for this is that the Valentine will detect radar
both in front of you and behind you. I wanted to give it
a clear shot to the rear.

How well does the Valentine detect radar behind you when
it is mounted inside the fairing and your body is shielding
it's rear view.

 

I came up on a cop shooting radar in the same direction I was traveling. I was surprised to see the arrow change from front to rear when i passed him. he was pulsing his radar not leaving it on continuously. I rounded a corner about maybe 1/8 of a mile and the lights went out. I just hooked up a 3.5mm aux plug to the radio. my plan is to connect into the remote audio port and have the radar alerts come through the speakers. not sure if its gonna work. I have to get the radio flashed to turn on the aux cable. 1/2 hr labor charge. gotta love it.
