Default Hwy 40 across CO, to 34 into Estes Park?

Coming from ID, can someone tell me if it is worth riding 40 to 34 into Estes Park, instead of taking 80 across WY and dropping down at Laramie, as far as time? We're coming from Eastern ID, and rode 80 last year all the way, but it was boring as hell. Thought I'd try dropping down from Rock Springs area in to Vernal and take 40.

Can I make pretty good time? We need to get from Idaho Falls to Estes park in 2 days. We stayed in Rawlins last year and that place was a dive to say the least.

Were staying 5 nights in Estes, so I'm not worried about sightseeing on the way in, since we'll be riding the Rockies the whole time were there. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks, Jon

it'll take a few more hours, but thats the way I would go, 80 is a very boring ride across Wyo

It will be a difference in night and day in scenery, but will take more time.

What they said, but if you have never seen it, it is worth the extra bit of time.

Thanks guys, I figured it would be a nicer trip judging from what we saw in CO last year. Has anyone stayed in Craig, CO? It'll be a good haul for us to go from Idaho Falls to Craig, about 460 miles. But from from what we saw last year after we hit 80 west of Green River, WY, I'm thinking we can just haul *** on 80/789/13 all the way to Craig.

Not familiar with Craig at all, it says it has a Best Western???? I'm not seeing a whole lot between Rock Springs and Craig, and I don't remember there being much after Rock Springs until we got to Rawlins on our trip last year. There is a town called Baggs, Wy, but it doesn't appear to have much.

Thanks for the help

Craig has 10 oe 12 hotels, has a Candle Wood suites, thats pretty new, believe that is what it's named, has a Best Western, converted Holiday Inn, can't remember what it's call now. Baggs has the Drifters Inn, but I wouldn't recomend drifting inn there, stayed there several years ago, they have remodeled the restaurant, but not the rooms as far as I know.
