If ya trade the bike..you won't have to pay taxes on anything but the difference in price. Also, isn't there a tax rebate on a new bike? So, you might end up with about the same money as you would trying to sell without all the grief.
I'm just think'en out loud. Good luck..

I do think you get a rebate (stimulus) check from the feds or tax break for purchasing a new wehicle -- I do not know the expiration date of the program. I don't think it lasts through the end of the year.

Good luck Revdoggy,
The stealers are speaking out of both sides of thier mouths this month. On one side they say that the new NADA books have just come in and the 2009 models are taken a hit, the 2010 models are scheduled to arrive next month so the 2009 aren't worth as much as last month BUT they want full MSRP plus for the 2009 models already on the floor.

Free bump here, but I can't see how the bike could possibly sell at that price. Not that it's priced too high. It's just with all the reasons everybody mentioned on here (tax breaks on new ones, tax advantage for you trading yours, etc.), you'll never get enough to justify passing up a trade of $18k.
The tax advantage alone puts the bike at $19k to $19.5k for you just to break even. Who would pay that when they get a new one for right around the same price. I don't know if people would prefer the '10 model more, or if you just want to say you bought a brand new harley.
Plus, if you play all dealers against each other and be patient, you can pick up a new one even cheaper. I've always been a firm believer that if something is priced right, it will sell. Every single thing will sell in any given economy given the price is right.

Just being honest the bike is at the dealer for a grinding noise that happend last night. So for now the bike isn't for sale not like I had much interest anyways. I may just leave it there and trade it or do the ebay thing still not sure I have all weekend to think about it as the $18,000 is looking good and I think I could get them to $18,500 so on we go.
