Check with Kelly Blue Book online. Here's a link.

The Harley market has dramatically changed expecially in the EVO market. Guys that paid over MSRP for a '90's HD,s expect to get a resonable price based on what they paid. In reallity they are bringing less than half. I have a '98 Heritage that I bouoght for $9,000 on E-bay. The auction started at $11,000 and expired without any bids. and I called the guy up and offered him $9,000. He needed money and thought he was giving it away. He was pissed the whole time I was there picking the bike up, didn't offer any extras or insight about past service. If remember following E-bay auctions closely and about 8 out of 10 auctions expired without any bids.

Bottom line, you got a depreciating asset. If you want to turn it into cash you need to price it at what the market is willing to pay. Most HD owners are emotionally attached to their bikes and can't come to grips with this.

Yeah, I agree. I got my 98 Heritage on ebay last summer, the best season. And I paid 10,000. For it, the guy originally ask 16,000.00. And its custom paint, and everything on it is Harley Chrome. Great deal. If you want to really sell it, you better keep it low! What ya selling?

Cycle Trader (remember these are asking prices) and deduct 15 - 20% for avg sale

KBB & NADA is just a basic guideline for the dealer to figure out a low book as a trade... So for sale price they're worthless

Performance parts (stage 1 - stage 2 Et).. Will INCREASE value by 50 -70% of what you paid for it..
Chrome (Bling-Bling) is only worth maybe 10 - 15% of the act. cost
Custom Paint 50% of coat and reduces by 10% per year..

Been doing this for years...

I find that stuff is worthless.
You ask a price and hope someone bites.
I offered my Goldwing for $7000. Had an offer...then he found out 'blue book'
was about $6800. I mention the up graded suspsion and other modifications......
and he balked. I advertised it for $6200...and i GET A KAZILLION HITS!
My fatboy...blue book is like....$14000. I adv. it for $10000 and get NOTHING.
So, no matter what you think something is worth..if no one wants it,
it is worth squat.

Right bike + right buyer = sold.

My 02 dyna sold new for $20,000. I paid $10k for it last summer. Have put about $2k more into mostly performance & comfort mods and will probablybe putting it up for sale locally for $12,500, depending upon how much I like the Road King after a demo ride one of these days. Forum folks would laugh at the "ridiculous" price, but this is a big time motorcycle town and all the work's been done. Economy is good here and it's RUB Ready.
Good news for me is that I don't have to sell it. If I don't get my price, I still ride. Would not want to be in the "must sell" mode, even here.
Bought my Sporty for $5,100 last spring and sold it 3 months later for $5,800 to the first guy who looked at it. It was "just what he was looking for."

I think that ebay is the best place to sell a bike and where people can get the best money for them. If you hit "Advanced Search" on there you can look for completed listings, this should give you an idea of how much people are getting for their bikes.
