Default FS: 1999 FXR2, Stone Cold Blue

I bought this last April, because I had some extra cash laying around and I always wanted an FXR. But after a year and 4 months of ownership I only rode it a couple of dozen times for less then 1k miles and it makes no sense to keep a bike under a cover when someone else could be enjoying it.

So so it’s now for sale.

1999 FXR2, was the first CVO Harley made. It’s my understanding that HD had a pile of FXR frames that they decided to build into bikes, but instead of tooling up the assembly line, they put a couple guys in a room with parts and had them hand assemble these bikes, and the “Custom Vehicle Operations” was born. Now I only read this somewhere so I won’t swear to it, but it’s my understanding as to how it came to be.

So it is a 1999 FXR2, 19k miles. SE-3 cam, fueling lifters, solid pushrods. Bassani Road Rage pipe, aftermarket heavy breather intake, original CV40 carb dyno tuned for the pipe and cam. I also have a S&S stealth AC that allows the use of the stock a/c cover. The rear rocker cover was weeping a little oil when I bought it, so since the covers were coming off to keep the stock push rods when I did the cam, the baskets were changed. Not a drop of oil from anywhere now. When that was done, the bike also had a 20k service done by the same excellent Harley tech who’s been working on my bikes for years, who I trust implicitly. He also owns an EVO so he knows his stuff around the bike.

Here is is the list:
80ci EVO motor and stock transmission, both with RedLine syn as is in the primary.
Dynatec 2000 ignition module (have stock module as well)
SE-3 cam
Heavy Breather aftermarket Air Cleaner, breather vented to the atmosphere.
Bassani Road Rage 2:1 with quiet baffle (not quiet at all, but not painfully loud either, just right! Also improved low end torque)
3guyz oil filter relocation kit.
Bung King front crash bar
Wilwood GP310 4 piston brake caliper w/Lyndall Gold+ pads up front. HUGE improvement over stock single piston. I have a second rotor and spacer, along with dual disk s/s braided brake line for a dual disk project that I never pursued. Yours if you want them.
RaceTech fork springs and emulators. It’s set up for my enormous 6’2” 300lbs size. Springs can be swapped out in about 10 min. Can do it before or when it’s picked up. Springs are $130
SuperBrace fork brace
Öhlins HD764 remote reservoir shocks on the back. The best! But also sprung for my girth. Springs can also be changed easy enough.
Bung King 8” pullback riser with drag bar. New grips, new extended HD mirrors.
Installed LED idiot lights on top clamp instead of the dim, stock incandescent bulbs.
Pirelli Night Dragon’s with less then 1k miles on them.
Mustang wide touring seat 2-up seat.
Custom Dynamics LED inserts and tail light. Dynamic Ringz in the front (white running/amber sig)
JW Speaker LED headlight.
Memphis Shades Cafe fairing, amazingly paint matched by an excellent custom paint shop by me.
FOBO TPMS tire air caps (works in conjunction with a iPhone/Android app)
Laydown plate holder. Kuryaken I think.

The paint is excellent. Not a scratch or ding. The bike has never been in an accident according to carfax, but since I am not the original owner, so that’s all I can swear to. It certainly looks and rides perfectly. Now, the bike is 20 years old, so while no scratches or dings, it shows 20 years of swirling which can most likely be polished out. I never put a drop of compound on the paint, and won’t, so that will be up to you.

As far as the ride, it handles like it’s on rails, as you would expect for any FXR with a top of the line suspension.

Here are some photos, I am surprised that an actually don’t have any of the left side, but it’s just as perfect as the right. I’ll take it out later and get some which I’ll post to this thread later.

And of course, everything works!

I paid $8500 for the bike last April, and have at least 3 grand into it, so I’m looking for $9500 for it. I have no need to sell it, I have my Road King and Low Rider and no plans for another. I just don’t ride it so it’s pointless for me to keep it any longer.

That said, the price is firm for now.

As I said, I’ll get some photos of the left side ASAP. Any questions about the bike, or specific areas you would like to see photos of, please post here, Please only PM questions on buying it, anything else just post here so everyone can see.

Thanks!

Here’s the dyno sheet after the quiet baffle was installed. Lost a little top end, but improved the torque curve and made the bike a pleasure to ride. It had a pretty pronounced dip at below 2800 RPMs with the open baffle, If you don’t mind the sound, and a bit more torque dip down low, you could put an original baffle back in the pipe for about a 8/8 increase about 3500 RPMs and up. I’m sure there’s a lot more potential out of this motor with a better cam, but it is what it is for stock-like reliability.

Here is the S&S AC (also vented) and the original cover, which I dropped an obscene $200 for a NOS original FXR2 insert for. THAT was silly... I can install this AC for you if you prefer the style.

As promised, here are some shots of the left side I took about a half hour ago. Also forgot to add, it includes the owners and factory service manuals.

Gorgeous. Actually negotiating with my buddy for his FXR4 (orange).

I just don't ride much anymore and my SGS is great, but I've always wanted an FXR.
