multi-bike insurance

multi-bike insurance
I'm thinking of adding a new bike to my garage. And possibly a 3rd bike by the end of the year.
I have my Heritage insured with Geico now. I called and asked about adding a Victory CC Tour to my policy. Their quote basically doubled my current premium.
I complained that I would be the only rider, and when riding one, the other would be locked in my garage.
Mostly got the same answer with USAA/Progressive. Two motorcycles = two full premiums.
Everything I have read on the internet (yeah, I know...) says that multi-bike insurance is way cheaper than separately insuring each bike.
What's the deal? Thanks for any info.

yep, big diff in quotes...
update: Dairyland and Geico both were around $1,600 for the two bikes on one policy with just me as rider.
USAA (thru Progressive) turned out to be a little over $900 for both bikes. Not sure if that was due to the USAA member discount or a multi-bike discount, or maybe some of both. Anyway, usaa/progressive seems the way to go if I do end up buying a 2nd bike.

Apparently the difference is because of rider, location, etc.. It is best to shop around.

I'm getting quotes on pretty high coverage... 100/300 liab, UM, medical, and most everything else. I've been taking a chance the last several years with not much more than the minimum required coverage, and no UM.
I bet half the people in TX don't have insurance, so I figured better add UM. added med coverage too, since lost my health insurance after a change in jobs last year.

Dairyland has gave me the best quotes the last 2 years, before that I had Geico and before that it was dairyland again. I shop around every year to see who will give me the best rate. I have 3 bikes on my policy right now a RK,Ultra, and a sportster. It cost me somewhere around $300-$350 for all 3. I don't have full coverage but I don't have the bare minimum either. I do have U.M. I didn't realize you could even get a policy without it.
