Well thank God I started this thread! Been shopping all day and I am going to go with Dairyland.
Got a final quote from them for $768 for my 2012 Ultra Limited and 2012 FXDC. That includes $5000 in accessory coverage ( I will up it later ) and 3 year New replacement value coverage.

Better coverage than I had with progressive and almost $1000 cheaper!

Jimmy, you really need to call Dairyland and ask WTF. I am in the same market as you and we have the same damn bike?!?!?
Hell I'll let you fax them my policy so they can see you KNOW you are getting screwed!

****, progressive with full coverage and 3k of accessories, bodily injury 250k/500k, property damage 100k, 500 deductible and roaside assistance is costing me 480 a year. I need to raise the accessory a bit more

Well I guess road side assistance may not be of much value with progressive. I read this from a thread below. Im going to try allstate tomorrow and see what they offer. I see they are a sponsor.

My Story (the short version):
I live in SE Michigan. I'm a commuter and rarely get to enjoy a recreational ride. Last fall I was able to go out on a Sunday afternoon so I packed up my saddle bags with some apples, warm gloves, a hoodie, and made sure my phone was fully charged.

Guess which of these was the most important to this story?

I got about 30min from the house and the bike quit on me. I pulled to the side of the road and started making phone calls. It was about 1.30pm and about 65 degrees. I called the wife first and told her to start looking for anyone who was open and could come pick up my bike. I then called Progressive and found out that my Road Side was part of my plan and that meant they'd find the tow company and get me home. Awesome. It was now 2.30pm and still about 65 degrees.

I pulled up a map and searched for "tow" and found 3-4 places instantly. I waited for Progressive to call me back. I waited 60min. I then sat on hold for 25min while trying to get in touch with my rep. My rep told me they couldn't find anyone willing to get me. I told her I found three places and would call them and call her back. I called the closest tow company and they said no big deal ... I mentioned Progressive and they clammed up. I basically said, "What's the deal? I'm on the side of the road and getting cold ... help me out?" They told me the "truth" - that Progressive didn't want to work with them.

I called Progressive [and waited on hold for a while] and they acknowledged that they also called that tow company and that it was the tow company that wasn't upholding the bargain. The tow company signed the agreement with Progressive but wasn't happy that Progressive didn't have "Sunday rates" ... I didn't care, told Progressive that, and begged them to figure it out. It is now 5ish and 50 degrees ... I'm totally wind-burnt, hungry, cold, and miserable. The progressive agent talked to her manager and got the approval for the "sunday rate" that the tow company wanted ... blah, blah.

Finally some dude in a truck showed up at 6.30pm to pick up my bike (and me) and tow me home.

What sucked?
  • The tow company was located 1.2 miles from where I was broken down.
  • Progressive called them first, and DIDN'T really try to figure it out. They left me on the side of the road and dialed around to other tow companies trying to find someone else that would pick me up for their rates. They have to have a better process than that.
What was the most important packed item?
All of it. WIthout the extra jacket, the warmer gloves, the food, the charged cell phone ... I'd be stuck walking.

What am I going to do differently this year?
I'm going to pack one of those energizer phone chargers just in case. I really did get down to the last 5% on the phone's battery. Granted it was a 5hr ordeal, but wow...

In VA.. I was with Progressive. Was paying $706/year for a 2010 Street Glide and a 2005 Suzuki Boulevard C50 (800cc Jap cruiser). 100/250 deductible, no roadside assistance. Switched to Foremost and now pay $458 for the exact same coverage except adding roadside. Just for the heck of it, I compared my auto policy while I was at it. Foremost is part of 21st Century auto. I ended up saving $700/year with them with auto. Total, I saved almost $1000/year for both. Yeah.. goodbye Flo. Can't say I'll miss that "progressive" company much either..

Mine just renewed. I got quotes from Geico, Dairlyand, Progressive, and Allstate (where my car and house is).

Allstate was almost $300 higher than the others, and the others were all within $40 of each other for Liability, Uninsured, 500 deductible, so I left it with Progressive where it's been for 10 years.

Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to their rating structures I guess.

Yeah I don't get it. I am 46. Been riding for 25 years, good credit, no tickets or accidents in over 10 years, no claims on auto or home.

Oh well, I guess I can look on the bright side. It made me shop around and now I have better coverage and added another bike for not much more than last years premium.
