In my research for proper insurance on an older Sporty, I've seen that uninsured motorist seems to be the highest nut buster on the policy. An attorney explained UIM coverage to me as this: If you get hit by a person with no insurance, you get burned up, lose your arms, legs, and vision, how much money are you willing to be "content" with? If your UIM is 50k, you'll find that's a bit on the low side.
What coverage limits do YOU guys run on your bikes, and with what companies? Thanks.

Here's a shocker for ya. In NY, motorcycles are NOT covered under no fault, meaning it's imperative that the rider has supplemental under insured coverage. If someone nails you and has crappy insurance or no insurance you could be screwed. Also if they have crappy insurance or no insurance, they probably have no assets to go after in a lawsuit.
The biggest shocker is, and I don't know if its true in other states or just New York, but if your spouse is a passenger on your cycle, she or he is not covered by by you policy unless you have that supplemental "guest" policy rider.
Your kids, girlfriend, friend, or any other passenger is covered under your policy, but NOT YOUR SPOUSE!
