FWIW.....

I insure a '16 Ultra Classic, '03 Heritage, and '01 FX Springer through the Automobile Club of California....

This thread made me curious, so I got an online quote from Progressive.... with the same coverage limits as I have through AAA, Progressive was $250/year more expensive than my last bill from AAA...

I'm sure many factors go into it like location, annual mileage, etc... I made sure the Progressive quote had the same info as I give AAA...

When I worked for the MoCo, Progressive agents were ALWAYS the first ones in my shop for damage claims. They always paid what the job was worth and the customers were very happy. I began using Progressive for my motorcycles back in about 2001 due to such a positive experience.

Then, in about 2015, I received a notice that my coverage had lapsed and my policy had been dropped. When I called them, it turned out to be a clerical error. However, they required an additional 2 WEEKS to reinstate my policy! They told me I could start a whole new policy with them (and pay more??!!) The whole thing was a mess and I dropped them like a bad habit. It was really a shame because my experiences prior had been so pleasant.

The whole insurance industry is crooked. They steal from you all year and screw you when you actually need to use their services. Man, If I stop to think about all the money Ive paid out in Car and Motorcycle insurance over the last 30 years for a product Ive never used.......

Progressive's been pretty good for me, I have a NJ and a FL policy, and the premiums are dirt cheap, EXCEPT for the the fact that I have a literbike in each location, which brings it over $1K/year for each location. Interestingly, I had a 249cc dual sport, and when I sold it, my insurance went UP $60!! So, yes, a phone call to clarify things might be in order...

I insure multiple bikes (only one rider) and haven't found anyone cheaper than Dairyland Insurance. They don't have all the fancy ads to pay for. For instance, I insure a DR350 Suzuki for $25/year, a '71 BSA 650 for $30. I obviously don't have collision on them.

Progressive was owned by Peter Lewis. A big leftist, who pushed legalization of marijuana, and the ACLU amongst other liberal causes. So it's not owned by George Soros, but they are birds of feather. I would never use them.

I use Acuity who is a patriotic company, with reasonable rates, and good customer service. My son used to work for them. They paid my son the difference in his salary, when he was deployed with the WI ARNG.

A nine year old thread back from the dead. The subject however is still timely.
