Default Seattle to British Columbia - Do I need insurance in BC?

Riding to Victoria, BC this weekend. Motorcycle insurance is not required in Washington state. Is it required for me to travel in British Columbia?

Nope. As long as you have insurance where you live.
Enjoy Victoria. Try to get up to Port Renfrew via 14 if you have time.

YES......you need to have your vehicle insured....if motorcycles don't have to be insured in WA...they DO need to be insured here...so go to your insurance broker and put insurance on it.

Just wondering why,, even if not required,,, would one ride without any insurance?

Yes, Yes and Yes! It is illegal to operate any type of vehicle on a public road in B.C. with out insurance.

Plus one on that ... no insurance equals $800 fine and a tow truck.

Yes and no. Your insurance is good but you need a yellow card from your insurance co saying that it is valid. All insurance companies provide the card at no cost.

Opps, I missed the fact that you do not have insurance. They may not check at the crossing but if you speed or get pulled over for any reason, you will be up a creek without a paddle. Wear good hiking boots for the walk back to the U.S.
