Default Progressive vs Geico

I currently have Progressive Insurance on mine and my Dad's motorcycles. I just found out that Geico is less expensive for the same coverage, but is Geico Insurance better than Progressive? Should I make the move to save a few bucks, or is Progressive the company to choose?

Any insight on this is greatly appreciated

I had Geico for about 9 years on my vehicles, but they wouldn't insure me overseas. So I'm with USAA, who does their motorcycle insurance through Progressive...but since I'm in Korea, USAA wrote my policy. I don't know, I guess that doesn't really have much to do with your thread, but I'd go with which ever company takes less money out of your pocket.

It seems that Geico is about 40% cheaper for the same coverage

I'd be jumping on that. That'd be a month's worth of bike parts in savings every 6 months for what I pay.

The difference is crazy. I just built a policy on each of their websites. The same amount of coverage is $1600 through Progressive and $600 through Geico annually

But what about customer care when you put in a claim, I have American Family went down a few years ago really had zero problems getting a claim paid out and having bike back on the road..............Geico might be cheaper if I check it out, but I know how my insurance treated me

I'd stay away from Progressive. They'll take your money and leave you holding the bag if something happens to your bike. Whether you pay for the "additional accesssory" coverage or not.

Had Progressive for years.... then Geico offered the same coverage for about $120 less per year. That was 4 yrs ago. When I got a new bike last year it went up
enough for me to look around again..This time Allstate came out on top. I have been with Allstate for 30 yrs with my cars and 2 homes, but they never could get my motorcycle business till now..about $135 less than Geico.

I know when it comes to cars progressive is pretty notorious for lowballing the hell out of payouts from what I hear on other car based forums I'm on. Pretty common thing to hear about progressive, at least in the car communities I'm involved with. There is another thread on here that says they have taken good care of bikers though. I was shocked to read that.
