I'm a little less at $220 with better coverage than the more expensive options. I carry the highest deductable and that helps keep the rates down.

Lots of vaariables in insurance rates. Make sure you are comparing apples to apples.

Some variables:

Insurance company
Driving record
Deductables and coveraage limits
Zip code
Age
Credit score
Type of M/C and engine size
Extras included in coverage such as chrome, exhaust, custom paint, wheels,etc...

Many states require rates based on engine cc's, which is one of the variables mentioned by jmpancoast.

I used to be an underwriter for a major insurance company who I will not name but who's logo may or may not resemble a large female statue holding a torch above her head... And in both the voluntary and involuntary market cc's was one of the main modifiers.

Seeing how much yours increased in price, and given you went up 400cc's in engine size that may be what is hitting you the hardest.

Mine is about 500 a year give or take a few bucks with Progressive. That's with a totally clean record and a discount for having an RV policy with them as well. You just reminded me that my renewal will be coming in the mail any day now. Yeck

We pay about $520 per bike (04 Heritage & 05 Fatboy) for the year. We have high limits, underinsured, uninsured, towing, including the "riding course discount" and multi vehicle policy. And every state is different too. Az has high theft rates so our insurance rates are higher too.

I pay monthly, its about $26 (like $312 a year and about $40 cheaper a year if I were to pay all at once). I'm 35, clean record, I have a $500 deductable and my policy includes $5,000 coverage for accessories. Its Progressive, purchased at a bike dealer.

Thanks guys for the quick replies. Looks like I am about average. I do realize that there are many varables when it comes to insurance. I am going to stick to what I have since I have my homeoweners with this same company and they have given me a discount on my bike. My agent checked two other companys today for lower rates. One was over $900 and the other was over $800. It is looking like the $486 is not all that bad. Again, I thank all of you.

I just renewed my Dairyland for $560, full coverage. I did a little online shopping before renewing and had quite a shock when I plugged my coverages into Green Gecko's online quote system...$3800/yr ! ! ! Donno if they have a glitch in their online system, or they're just insane.
