i just finished building a softail.nothing outragerous.santee frame4" stetch in the down tubes.total of about 12000 invested .i live in nd.dairyland who ive had since my first hd 15 years wont touch it.american family want a grand for full coverage.had to go with progressive lybility for 75 bucks a year.any body got any ideas who else i can try.

 

has any body on here built there own bike?where did you get insurance?id like to have full coverage in case it got stole or some tard with no insurance crashes me again.

 

I did a ground-up custom build-up (see my signature picture). I got my original policy through Safety Insurance and have since switched to Liberty Mutual. The policy will cover all the basic liabilities, but it's hard to cover many things on a "custom" as they were self-fabricated and damages/repairs will likely be dealt with yourself (as I've learned when I damaged the paint/fabrication work, had to tear it down to a frame, have it fixed, and then put it back together. I see insurance on a custom a lot like MoCo warranty coverage....don't count on it to make things right.
