Insurance, how much are you paying?
when I bought the V-Rod 2 year ago I jsut took the Formost Insurance thru HD because it seemed like a decent price for the full coverage. It was right at $500 a year.
So I call to get insuracne on the new Fat Bob and they want $750 a year and the reason it's more is because it has more CC's (larger engine) than the V-Rod.
I tried to explain that the V-Rod is a performance bike and has a higher top rated speed than the Fat Bob AND it was more expensive than the Fat Bot.
Doesn't matter. They base the cost of insurance on the size of the engine.
I told them to forget it, I'd shop around. So who's got the best insuracne rate? What you paying?
I waiting for a call back from State Farm, they have all my houses and other vehicles covered, so I'm hoping they will be much lower than Formost/HD.

I have AllState insurance. I get multiple discounts from having my wife's and my car as well as home owners insurance thru them. Also got a discount w/ Allstate from taking the Maryland Motorcycle Safety Program. May have been a little lower but driving in the Washington DC area doesn't help so that may also play a roll in your rates.
I pay $304/Year with full coverage.
Shop my friend.

I have Foremost. It started out when my bike was new at $277 for full coverage. 4 years later it is under $200. They take into account, your credit rating. Don't ask me why. Allstate wanted over $800 and I had been with them for 20 years and 4 cars covered with them at the time.

Quite a few people I know here in the Midwest have insurance through Dairyland...
They give discounts for multiple bikes, home owners, completion of a MSF course, and who knows what else.
I've been told that after doing some 'shopping around' they found that rates (with discounts) through Dairyland were some of the lowest.

I pay $352 a year for my FXST from American Bankers Insurance Company. Since my bike was built by Arlen Ness back in 1990, it was appraised for $21,500, which is what it is insured for. I could get a cheaper policy, but I wanted to have a policy that would pay for what it's valued for. I know I could never replace it for that, but at least I could start off in the right direction.

Insurance prices suck in MI. Every company is high due to our No-fault laws, unlimited medical and MI Catastrophic Claims Administration. I pay $687 a year for full coverage on my 01 Ultra through AAA. If the weather turns rough, I change to storage coverage from December through February. I usually get a refund of $170-$200. I pay $283 a year for $6,500 worth of coverage on my Sportster through Haggerty. It's much cheaper because it's plated as an Historical Vehicle. Everyone I know out of state pays less.
