Default Insurance

I've been with Geico for a few years now and they've treated me quite well. Had a claim a while back, Drunk knocked over 4 bikes coming out of the bar no major damage to any but, enough. Of course Dude has no job, no money, etc. Insurance paid for all repairs, then went after him personally. Best of all my premium didn't go up a dime. Sorry for the rant.... still makes me mad.

I currently have Progressive;but depending on what state you live in and the distance you travel it may or may not be best for you.

GEICO, To me have the best service and at all the Bike shows, Plus if you have a Pol. with them on a cage you might even get a better rate. Just my 2 cents but have had USAA and within 1 year with no claims and no tickets raised my rate almost 2 bills.

Default Most companies write a converted auto policy

I sell auto and motorcycle insurance, do not buy a converted auto policy for your bike. Most people only start with the bike. They change pipes, bars, grips then all the added items like highway pegs, luggage racks, the custom graphics. The auto policy only pays for how it came from the factory a bike policy should add for extras. Progressive comes with $1000, the Nationwide(Allied) comes with $3000 and I am not sure about GEICO or Allstate. You can always buy more if needed. I know that my 04 Classic has around $3000 in extras and I don't like cleaning and polishing chrome. The main thing is to find an agent that knows what you have and understands that your bike is a "member of the family." Ask questions, price is not everything. Finally buy good limits of liability, you could be at fault and not ever touch the other vehicle.

I have my 08 Ultra Classic and two cars insured with Allstate. Now paying 294 dollars every 6 months. Just got my renewal offer and it does not have uninsured motorist listed. Girl at agent's office says that's because bike is already covered for UM under auto policies. Does that sound right?

Default but what are you buying?

interesting reading. everyone is talking about the insurance that is on the bike and the extras that it covers for the amount of money you pay. But i am wondering what insurance limits you are buying. As background, I have had a bike for almost 30 years. Had a harley for the last 18. I live in the middle of Canada. we have government run public insurance. you pick a range for maximum market value regardless of what additions are on it, it is worth whatever you can show the market says it is worth. it does not cost a lot extra for 5,000,000 liability insurancewe can't sue for injuries up here, but we have essentially unlimited medical coverage. This came in handy when I woke up in a Bismark North Dakota emergency room facing a $1,500 ambulance bill, $8,500 for the overnight stay, plus the additional rehab/physio costs etc. Good thing was I wasn't really hurt. had no one to sue any way. High speed wobble on the interstate. We have a minimum 200,000 mandatory third party liability limit in Canada. what is the ones in your areas? what is the medical coverage that you carry?

I have Nationwide...beat the price of State Farm by almost 50% and beat progressive by about 20%..With more coverage...roadside assistance & $3000.extra coverage for custom crap....Get plenty of uninsured coverage...My group was in a wreck last summer near Fayetteville NC and the coverage came in handy but $100000.00 still was too low...
