Default Idling on kickstand during cold Startup.

This is most likely a stupid question. I was told by two guys with M8s do not let them idle on cold startup on the kickstand. Something about the oil will not lubricate the engine properly. Both of them was dead serious, bike must be setting up right. I have a 107 20 Sport Glide with 29,000 trouble free miles .I'm in MI, I have always let it warm up on the kickstand, no problems.
So was the 2 guys just paranoid??.

I am by no means an expert , BUT I would have to say that " advice " is not warranted .

I think they were either messing with you , OR they are simply ignorant to the physical properties of an oil pump .

Besides you should not let your bike " warm up " for an extended period of time anyway .

HOLY CRAP! Harley Davidson Motor Company has been mis-instructing everyone for over a century now and all the bikes made during that time are ruined!!!!!! HD should have hired those "two guys with M8s" long ago to avoid such catastrophes !!

Tell those two guys with M8s that if you want tech advice it won't be from 2 guys who got all their smarts from a Facebook Harley group.

Just for ***** and giggles, did they offer any technical explanation as to why the oil pump would not work properly with the bike siting on a angle?

Where does this stuff come from? Oh wait, 702 probably has it. Facebook

Well, I guess that rules out left turns, especially if you lean into the curve.

You can take the turns, just don't let it idle while doing it.

Probly referring to the main pick up for scavenging side of the oil pump is located on the right case.

Exactly. Tman and others strongly promote upright start up AND shut down upright
